It is always a challenge to plan out a vacation that will be fun and
memorable for the entire family. Especially if your kids are still little,
you would need to consider what they would think would be enjoyable to do,
and while going to the same place and doing the same thing every vacation
may help build memories, it can also end up being boring. So, if you are
heading for Ireland for your family vacation, why not try out something
different and ride across the country like gypsies?
When going on a vacation to Ireland with your family, you can hire a gypsy
caravan and go on a horse-drawn tour of the country. Just like what you
would see in an old Western movie, a gypsy caravan is a covered, barrel-
topped and horse-drawn wagon.
However, unlike the old-style wagons, these gypsy caravans are fitted with
modern fixtures that will ensure some semblance of comfort for the family.
The wagon typically has internal lighting, kitchen equipment and a sink or
a washbasin. Four or five people can sleep comfortably inside the wagon.
So, you can say that the modern gypsy caravan is just like a mobile home,
except that it is horse-drawn.
For added comfort, agencies where these gypsy caravans can be hired from
typically have designated farms or guesthouses where the caravan can stop
over to let the family take a bath, feed the horses or eat a warm meal.
Some hotels also welcome gypsy caravans within their grounds for a certain
fee.
If you and your family love going on camping trips, hiring a gypsy caravan
will give you the chance to enjoy the great outdoors of Ireland. There are
open spaces that are designated stopovers for gypsy caravans who would like
to go camping. It is also possible to set up camp in some inlets in
Ireland to go fishing.
You do not have to worry if you do not know how to drive a horse-drawn caravan or if you do not know how to deal with horses. Whoever will drive the caravan will be given pointers prior to hiring; you would also be surprised that the horses actually know where they will be going. Comments (13)
