To experience a country, you should not hop from one attraction to
another. This is not about going to look a famous place, it is a rather
suggestion on what you should do in Ireland. Manage your typical trip and
enjoy Ireland like it should be enjoyed.
1. Attend a Traditional Music SessionAsk locals where the best sessions are - not the one for tourists. Go where the musicians play just for the fun of it.2. Drink a Pint of GuinessWell, alright, a half of it would do. Drinking Guinness Beer is an acquired taste.3. Eat a Black Pudding for BreakfastBlack pudding is made from blood. But this food is delicious, as most tourists leave it in their plate. This is delicious, worth trying.4. Visit a BogPeat bogs are turf that provides heat for Irish homes. At first glance, it is just a dull looking flat and brown thing. But just look closer. 5. Take a walk along the Banks of a CanalWalking in along the banks of canal would give you peace, and do your spirit good. It is believed that barges and locks are in the water. 6. Catch a ferry to an islandTake a ferry rather an airplane if you plan to go island hopping. You will enjoy marine life on your way to an island. 7. Buy Lunch at a Farmer's MarketEat some place beautiful whatever delicious finds you can get from locally grown fresh food. It just may be some delicious home-made fudge, or lemonade for that picnic. 8. Go HorseracingRace meetings are known as family affair where you can have fun and socialize with friends. Most of the races are in summer evenings. 9. Go UndergroundStalactites and stalagmites are limestone in Ireland's cave systems which are open for the public to see. 10. Climb a Round TowerThe top of a round tower was used to be climbed by old monks. It might scary but the view is great from the top. 11. Attend festivalsNon-stop partying, or other all-year round fests. Search for something that you like to join then go along. 12. Bring a Bit or Ireland HomeBuy from stores, may it be a shell, a beautiful pebble, a pinecone - what is important is that are taking something special from a special place worth remembering. Is it possible for a physically fit, approaching 70, woman of no great financial means and alone to enjoy the types of things on this page? If it helps, I already drink Guiness (at least, the Americanized version - I know it's not the same). What I would really like to do is live in Ireland for somewhere between 2 weeks and a month in a village near the sea. Or is this just a silly dream? Truly, I would appreciate honest comments.
