If you feel that you need a break from all the hustle and bustle of city life, why not take a week off and go on an Ireland tour, an island filled with a lot of green scenery and mythical history. Ireland is the one of the islands in Europe ranking third in size. A tour of the whole island of Ireland will only take several days, depending on the mode of transportation you take, either by car, by bicycle, on foot, or even using a horse drawn carriage. At present, there are ferries from the United Kingdom that will only take almost a hundred minutes to get to Ireland.

There are different options and ways to go about an Ireland tour. You can take a themed tour which may be devoted to nature, castles, history, safari, golf, and even gourmet food. An Ireland tour lasts for as short as two days to as long as several days, depending on your time allowance and how fast you would like to travel. Sometimes, the time allotted isn't enough to fully appreciate the beauty of the places you visit.

For nature lovers, you can go explore the assortment of different green landscapes and scenic spots that only Ireland has. You first stop with your Ireland tour may be County Cork, located at the southern tip, whose waters flow into the Atlantic. This place serves as a service station for seals, whales, dolphins and sharks. It is also where birds migrate to. If you would like to go whale watching, this is the best place for it, especially during the months of September to November.

It is also good to see the Giant's Causeway, when doing an Ireland tour. This place is considered to be one of UNESCO World Heritage sites. The Causeway has several tightly bound columns made of basalt placed in different places from the Antrim Plateau to the sea. According to legend, the giant Finn MacCool is the one responsible for these columns since this was his pathway to an enemy giant in Scotland.

You can also start your Ireland tour by going to the Beara Peninsula first. You can view the Atlantic Ocean from this vantage point, with the Caha and Slieve Mishkish mountains at the side. The main town, Castletownbere displays the artworks of several Irish artists, and treasures originating from local history. Then you can take the Causeway Coastal route, which showcases the beautiful Sally Gap drive with impressive views of the Wicklow Mountains. Then there is the Burren drive, one of Ireland's most excellent natural attractions, a limestone plateau located in Burren. You can even try the Dursey cable car experience as part of your Ireland tour, which was originally meant for moving people and cows.

These are just a few places that you can visit in Ireland. It would probably take several weeks to be able to savor each place you go to in your Ireland tour. You may even opt to do something different, like go food tasting, or try out sleeping in one of the historical castles which has been converted into a bed and breakfast. Whatever choice you make for you personal Ireland tour, it is guaranteed to help you relax and uplift your spirits, even for just a few days.
