Are you one of those people who can just take a part of a plant and make it grow somewhere else you like, without exerting any effort at all? If you are, then you would probably love to go on a tour of the exquisite gardens of Ireland. Ireland is well known for the mysterious beauty of their cultivated gardens, full of exotic plants and mystical greenery. It is not a wonder why Ireland is also called the Emerald Isle. Forty different shades of the color green is seen in this island and yet not one of them is emerald.

Taking a tour of Ireland's gardens and historical sites is enough to set fire to your imagination. Castle strongholds, gothic houses, gardens from the seventeenth century, parks landscaped to perfection, rustic wilderness, cottage gardens, botanical and herb gardens and arboreta reflect the rich culture of the Irish both past and present. Aside from the local greenery, several plants from all over the world have also decided to take a tour of Ireland's climate such as Australian tree ferns, Japanese banana plants, primulas from the Alps, and South African daisies, and probably found it excellent to relocate to.

The first stop of your tour of Ireland and its gardens is Annes Grove in Castletownroche, County Cork. This garden has been in existence since the seventeeth century, passed down from generation to generation of the same family. It consists of winding waters, interspersed with native plants like meadowsweet, marsh valerian, unusual bamboos and gunnera plants with giant leaves.

The next stop is the gardens of Belvedere in County Westmeath which is believed to be made by the Lord Belfield for thirty years since he discovered his wife having an affair with his brother during the eighteenth century.

Another garden in Ireland that is nice to tour is the Botanic Gardens in Belfast. Here you can find two of the most distinguished early greenhouses in Europe, the Palm House and the Tropical Ravine. The Palm House was designed by a Dublin engineer by the name of Richard Turner. It boasts of Victorian conservatories made of cast iron while the Tropical Ravine is made into a tropical glen with a high walkway around it.

The Kylemore Abbey in Connemara is one of the nice garden destinations that you can tour in Ireland. It is a traditional Victorian walled garden, six acres big, and being run and taken care of by the Benedictine Nuns.

Northern Ireland's most celebrated garden is Mount Stewart, located in Newtownards, County Down. It contains most of the gardening styles of the last two centuries, with a variety of plants coming from every continent. This was meticulously combined and designed by the Lady Edith of Londonderry. It is considered one of the finest gardens in Ireland that should always be in your tour itinerary.
